About Gulf Coast Canteen
Gulf Coast Canteen’s origin began with the founding of Central Vending by Jack and Dot Breland in 1961 in Moss Point, MS.
After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi and working for General Foods for a few years Jack started Central Vending with ten coffee machines and a dream.
Through the years, they built a reputation of quality and service that continues today through their son.
Greg Breland joined the company in 1993. After graduating from Auburn in Aerospace Engineering in 1984, Greg worked for Pratt & Whitney in West Palm Beach, Florida before returning to Central Vending.
Greg worked at Central Vending until April 1999 at which time he purchased Mobile Vending.
After working exclusively in the Mobile, Alabama area for two years after the Mobile Vending acquisition, Greg returned to work part time for Central Vending in 2001 when Jack retired.
Dot Breland continued to manage Central Vending until her retirement in 2005 when Central Vending was purchased by Greg.
Over the years, there have been many companies acquired by Gulf Coast Canteen, including Food Services in Ocean Springs, MS, Maako Vending in Long Beach, MS, Allbrands Foods in Mobile, AL, A&J Vending in Saraland, AL and Rowell Vending in Mobile, AL. We truly are a family of companies and have added the best qualities and personnel of the companies we have acquired.
Franchising allows our company access to many industry exclusives such as Checkers, Blimpie Subs, Nathan’s Hot Dogs, Red Barron Pizza, and Starbucks gourmet coffee.
In 2001 Central Vending and Mobile Vending chose to become a Canteen Franchise.
Canteen is a national vending company that operates both corporate owned vending business as well as operator owned franchisee’s.
